Watervliet’s 7th Street will be closed between 4th Avenue and Broadway during nighttime sewer work scheduled for Oct. 14–16, according to a city construction update. Work hours are listed as 6 p.m. to 3 a.m., with access maintained for residents only during the closures.

Luizzi’s crew will be working at 7th Street and 3rd Avenue as part of the city’s CSO Elimination Phase 2 project. Third Avenue will remain open, with flaggers directing traffic through the work area.

A second crew is continuing work on 4th Street between 5th and 6th Avenues during normal daytime hours.

Crews are installing new storm sewer infrastructure under the city’s Combined Sewer Overflow elimination program. The city said active work areas will have noise, equipment traffic and temporary parking restrictions. Access to driveways and businesses will be maintained whenever possible.

The city advised drivers to use alternate routes and follow flaggers’ directions near the work zone.

The project is part of infrastructure upgrades intended to manage stormwater runoff and protect Hudson River water quality, according to the city.
