518News aims to publish accurate local information. When a material factual error is identified, we want to correct it promptly.
What we correct
Corrections may include inaccurate names, dates, figures, locations, descriptions, quotations, links or other facts that materially affect a reader’s understanding of a story.
Updates versus corrections
A developing story may change as new information becomes available. Adding newly available information is an update. Changing information that was materially wrong when published is a correction.
Transparency
When appropriate, significant corrections should be disclosed to readers rather than silently changing a material error. Minor spelling, grammar, formatting and similar non-substantive fixes may be corrected without a formal notice.
Requesting a correction
If you believe a 518News story contains a factual error, please identify the article and describe the specific information you believe should be reviewed. Submit your request using the correction form below.
