Watervliet is accepting signups for Thanksgiving meals for city residents in need, with delivery scheduled for Wednesday, Nov. 25, beginning at 2 p.m., according to a city announcement.

Mayor Charles Patricelli announced that city staff will work with local businesses and civic organizations to provide hot meals after Equinox in Albany announced that its meal service would no longer be available to Watervliet residents. The city said residents in need had received Thanksgiving meals from Equinox for many years.

The service is limited to Watervliet residents. The city's signup form requires a name for each person requesting a meal, and each person must live in the household listed. The city said it will deliver only one meal to an address if household members' names are not listed.

Members of the Watervliet Police and Fire departments, city staff and volunteers are scheduled to make the deliveries. Recipients will receive additional delivery information by email before Nov. 25.
