Clifton Park’s proposed 2027 budget would fund park improvements, replace generators at two town buildings and continue annual support for CAPTAIN while maintaining no town property tax, according to the town.
Town Supervisor Phil Barrett released the tentative spending plan, which the town says would remain within New York’s tax cap.
Proposed park and recreation projects include extending public water to Veterans Park, paving the parking lot at Mohawk Landing and installing a new main floor at the Locust Lane Clubhouse. The plan also includes funding for the town’s Celebrations Committee to prepare for milestones in Clifton Park’s history.
At the Burning Bush Clubhouse, the proposal would fund paving of the remaining half of the parking lot. The entrance and lot on one side of the building were paved in 2026; work on the opposite side is planned for spring 2027. The town said it split the project over two years to avoid disrupting park and ballfield visitors, pool-season preparations and other activities.
The budget also includes money to replace generators at Town Hall and the Clifton Park Senior Community Center. The town identified the replacements as necessary to maintain public safety measures at those sites.
Annual funding for CAPTAIN would remain in the budget even as the organization prepares to relocate. The town said CAPTAIN has notified it of plans to move in 2027, with the move expected in September. Its current space in an addition to the Public Safety Building includes staff offices, a meeting room and a food pantry.
Barrett proposes providing that space to the New York State Police in addition to their existing offices in the building. State Police officers and investigators have worked from that location for many years, according to the town.
